Getting by with my friends. . .

Meet my bitches, oh I mean, my best friends. Sorry about that. Haha! They're from the funnest and funniest group I've ever had in my 25 years of existence, the Friday group. You know there's nothing really much to tell because everyday, we get to know more and more of each other. Jokes go wild and the knowledge we have of each other goes deeper. And so, this is how I perceive them. . .

Meet Tin B.

She is my katukayo (I'm Tin A., btw) I'm loud and she's the opposite of it. She is a TV series (US) fanatic. It is through her that I found out about Once Upon A Time and the morbidly disgusting Japanese movie Battle Royale (which happens to have almost-but-not-quite the same plot as that of The Hunger Games). Tin for me, is the epitome of the modern day couch potato. Conversations with her involves 85% cerebral and 25% wit. If you don't and can't have both, then you better shut your mouth. Hey laugh. It's not true. Haha! Honestly, I think she's one of the nicest people I know in this planet. She has the spontaneity to go through different topic of discussions. One minute she talks about cartoons and linguistics and fangirling stuff, and the next, she becomes someone whom you can share your burdens with.

Curtains up for Hogi C.

Real name: Christine ked-lum. As why she carries the nickname Hogi, I can't remember anymore. Was it because of Hogi bear? Oh damn. I forgot. Anyway, I've always pronounced her last name that way. She is the theater biggie slash dancing diva of the barkada. From big theater productions, she's now making a huge step in ballroom dancing. As a matter of fact, there's a big possibility of her joining competitions next year (as her dance mentor Ian had said). Hogi's the first to become my friend among the four. I was 5 or 6 months pregnant then, and we were sitting next to each other in the office. It was me who initiated the conversation by asking her complimentary tickets to Legally Blonde. Haha! She speaks so well that sometimes, I fail to keep up. Yes, I stutter and my nose bleeds too like everyone else ☺ Hogi's not the showy type of friend but she's very appreciative. That's her version being sweet, actually. Haha! With her, you will feel love and acceptance.

Order in the court with Sam M.

From Imus, Cavite - the place of bottle-neck traffic and political dynasty, comes the beautiful and sassy Sam. We're both from UP - she, from UP Manila and I, from UP Diliman. She's a law student who walks in ruffled skirts and sometimes, even in Bohemian-inspired maxi skirts - her head held up high in perfectly fitted dresses - and with confidence that her fabulously painted nails give. I have always admired Sam's way of carrying herself. She may look timid and shy but she's one hell of a strong-willed person. She speaks her mind too. When she's pissed off, you'll know - and you wouldn't want to say a word. Haha! Peace Sam✌ But if there's one thing I love most about her, it really is the walk-the-talk kind of confidence that she exudes.

And last and definitely not the least, the boss  - Julie Simonette R.

See, I met her through Hogi and the rest is history. I don't even recall how we came to speaking terms. All I could vividly remember was her boyish-ness and awkwardness being the subject of ridicule by many, me, included ☺ Not that I'm mean or a bully. Well I think sometimes I am. Oh! Whatever. We just used to love her reactions towards jokes thrown at her. I remember when both me and my best friend Kate volunteered to do Julie's makeover - starting with her super volumized  hair that btw, goes in all directions (at that time) - to her chappy lips - to her sneakers - to her green hoodie jacket. The makeover plan didn't happen though until she got promoted. You know I never really got the chance to tell her this, but I've always believed that Julie's wittingly smart attitude will bring her to greater heights. However, it is the difference of our job descriptions that sometimes, puts our friendship to a test. It's a good thing that we're transparent though. We're sensitive enough to realize things and we talk it over. One of the best things about Julie is her value for her own private space (I suggest you reader, to read what I just said between the lines☺). Here, let me give you an idea. There are instances when you do and say things that only YOU can fathom and tolerate. People outside your private space will find it weird therefore, you're somehow giving them the chance to judge you. But you don't give a damn. You don't care what they say because it's own your space to consume. I see Julie's character this way - but despite that, she's LIMITLESS when she's with us.

So here goes my almost-but-not-quite brief introduction of my Friday group. As for my self introduction, let me just tell you this -maybe I'm a chameleon. I can easily blend in with people - but I choose my friends wisely. I may seem to have a lot but I only keep a few trusted ones - and my Friday group sure goes to the road of  Friendship Forever
