Opening a new chapter - with our Ccino

His birth name was Buknoy. But thanks to my boyfriend’s creative thinking and he is now known as “Ccino.”

Ccino was timid and to some extent, shy, to us being his new parents. He is a lazy bone. He sleeps all the time. He’s non-responsive to the environment - the mall, the people that were fond of him. In Filipino, we call that - deadma. I remember this Persian looking mother and daughter who approached us and asked our permission if they could take a close look of Ccino - the mother was like, “Oh my God! He’s so adorable!” He’s only 2-months old and yet, he’s drawing too much attention.

While it is me who’s been really opened of the idea of buying Ccino, my boyfriend Bien, on the other hand, didn’t express excitement or want as much as I did. He was just like, “So you’re really into getting this dog? Okay.” I am a self-confessed animal lover and Bien isn’t. And that ends the conversation.

But upon seeing Ccino, things changed. The first time he brought the sleepyhead Ccino into his arms - and as the day went along, he just won’t let go of him. The smile in Bien’s face - when we were fitting some clothes for Ccino. The sight of displeasure when Ccino peed not in his diaper, but on the table where we’re dining in (to Starbucks’ branch at the Mall of Asia, we’re sorry for the incident). In a span of almost 7 hours - many things have happened. I saw the child in Bien. That childlike happiness that only a cute being like Ccino can give.

Having Ccino on our yet, 7th month relationship is another chapter in our lives as a couple. It’s like having a first-born. You laugh when he does cute acts. You frown when he’s too hard to manage. You worry when he feels uncomfortable. You buy him clothes to make him feel warm. You hug him so he would feel safe and protected.

Now, I have two babies to take care of. To Ccino, I pray that he’ll always be healthy. May he grow wise and loving - and cute. To Bien, I hope he won’t get tired of taking care of me and Ccino. May he always have the patience to deal with our moods. And most importantly, I pray that his love for me and Ccino will grow deeper in the years to come.

I love them both!
